KEWEENAW COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that occurred on Friday, July 31.
Around 7:40 p.m., Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported single-motorcycle crash on US-41, approximately half a mile south of Washington Mine Road. The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a three-wheeled motorcycle lost control, left the roadway, and struck a tree. He was ejected from the machine.
The driver, a 72-year-old male from Cumberland, Wisconsin, sustained critical injuries. He was transported from the scene by Mercy EMS for emergency medical
treatment, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office. No further information is being released pending notification of family.
Assisting on scene was Copper Harbor Fire, Copper Harbor First Responders, Mercy EMS, and the Michigan State Police.
