CHATHAM, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Alger County Sheriff’s Office is looking for information about possible victims after a search warrant on a home turned up date rape drugs.
ACSO says police raided a house on West Onota St. in Chatham on Jan. 19. Police found significant evidence of drug activity including methamphetamine and paraphernalia, as well as “a large quantity” of gamma butyrolactone (GBL). GBL is also known as “liquid ecstasy” or “cherry meth” and is a common date rape drug.
Police say GBL can lead to difficulty breathing, memory loss or amnesia, an inability to move while conscious, and a loss of consciousness when combined with alcohol or other drugs.
