Amid a fruitful holiday season, it’s important to remember those less fortunate. On this edition of What’s Up with Megan, we celebrate a worldwide holiday of giving back.
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of radical generosity – the concept that the suffering of others should be as intolerable to us as our own suffering.
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day encouraging people to do good. Over the past eleven years, this idea has become a global movement that inspires millions to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
What does that mean on a local level? Giving Tuesday Data estimates approximately $900,000 was donated in the Upper Peninsula on Giving Tuesday alone in 2022. These donations allow local nonprofits to provide services such as substance abuse treatment, animal welfare, arts, and more.
To donate, you can click here and here to benefit multiple organizations across the U.P.
But you don’t just have to give fiscally. You can volunteer, give blood– the options are endless.
Every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give. Each seemingly small act turns a ripple into a wave of good, transforming society and building a world we all want to live in.
