ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Veterans Day is on Saturday, but one Delta County senior living facility works throughout the year to make rent more affordable for those who have served.
LakeHouse Escanaba—known until July as North Woods Place—is an assisted living community with apartment-style housing, offering individual care plans for each resident.
LakeHouse provides all active duty service members and veterans with a 50% discount on their first month’s rent. The facility also provides a $1,000 discount on their second month’s rent through a partnership with Patriot Angels, along with Aid and Attendance benefits.
“They literally put their lives on the line for our country, so I think it’s very important to honor that and give them the benefits they really deserve,” said Senior Lifestyle Counselor Samantha Sullivan.
On Saturday at 9:00 a.m., LakeHouse Escanaba is hosting a free Veterans Day Appreciation Pancake Breakfast. There will be an American Legion presentation, and veterans will receive a certificate of recognition. The public is welcome to attend but is asked to RSVP.
“As we did just undergo a name change—I’m hoping that we can bring some new brand awareness to the community, but also just awareness to the things that we offer for veterans and the community as a whole,” Sullivan said.
