IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Iron Mountain man is in custody and facing a false report charge after police say he allegedly made threats toward Kingsford schools.
Kyle Holmberg, 30, was arraigned in Dickinson County District Court Monday afternoon. He’s charged with one count of a false report or threat of terrorism, a 20-year felony.
During his court hearing, it was revealed police recovered multiple guns, including an AR-style rifle, and ammunition from his home Sunday.
Holmberg’s bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety at 10%.
On Sunday, Sept. 24 around 4 p.m., The Iron Mountain Police Department and Kingsford Public Safety received a report from the MSP tip line of a possible threat to either Woodland Elementary or North Elementary schools.
Police say the threat was supposed to happen during the schools’ Spirit Week.
Police determined within a couple hours that the suspect, who was thought to live in Kingsford, lived in Iron Mountain. Officers conducted surveillance of the suspect’s home until a search warrant was obtained and executed at approximately 10 p.m.
Holmberg was taken into custody and lodged at the Dickinson County Correctional Center pending a review of the complaint and possible charges.
The Iron Mountain Police Department was assisted by Kingsford Public Safety, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, and Norway Police Department.
