SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – An early morning fire killed five family pets and destroyed a Superior Township home Monday.
Bay Mills Indian Community Law Enforcement said it happened at 11153 Lakeshore Dr. on the BMIC reservation around 7 a.m.
BMIC police said the homeowner was not in the home at the time of the fire, but two cats and three dogs were killed. One dog managed to escape. Police say the home is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but foul play is not suspected.
Bay Mills Township volunteer firefighters were assisted at the scene by Soo Township and Dafter Township firefighters.
Chippewa County Victim Services Unit and Bay Mills Social Services are helping the family.
BMIC police say no further information will be released.
