Iron Mountain, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Braumart Theatre in Dickinson County was transformed into an underwater wonderland as the Northern Michigan Dance Academy took the stage for the production of “The Little Mermaid”. Artistic Director Katie Roell and her team of talented dancers had been rehearsing tirelessly since the start of the year to bring this magical spring performance to life.
“We have eighty dancers participating in the show this year which we’re really proud of,” Roell commented. “It’s just a fun, joyous under-the-sea magical performance with dancers ranging from three years old all the way to 18 years old”
Of the 80 dancers, the show featured 3 seniors in the production, and one of those seniors is the Dance Academy’s starring role, Natalia Brown who was cast as Ariel. Brown has been dancing a total of 13 years, and has plans to attend Michigan State University this fall and major in Business Management with a minor concentration in interior design. The other two participating seniors at the Academy are Anja Kleiman who was cast as Ursula, and Courtney Erickson who was cast for the role of Sebastian.
The dedicated dancers of the Northern Michigan Dance Academy have worked tirelessly to perfect their routines, and their efforts are likely to bring a stunning performance that is sure to leave the audience spellbound. The show runs throughout the weekend, so there’s still time to catch this enchanting production.
