Equipment Loans In The Keweenaw Receive Grant to Support Adaptive Track Program

HANCOCK – Equipment Loans in the Keweenaw received a Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation’s  Priority Impact Quality of Life Grant for over $17,000 that will help fund an Upper Peninsula adaptive track program, the Upper Peninsula Invitational. The Copper Country Intermediate School District’s Equipment Loans of the Keweenaw provides adaptive track and field training, and loans athletes living with paralysis the equipment they need. The Reeve Foundation’s grant will be used to purchase racing chairs, rollers, 3D printed gloves and helmets that will be loaned to students living with paralysis that will participate in the Invitational, which will take place on April 29, 2023. The CCISD’s ELK program will be the first ever edition of the Upper Peninsula Invitational. Athletes who have physical disabilities, their parents, coaches, athletic directors and track officials from around the Upper Peninsula are invited to participate. The adaptive track team from the University of Michigan, and their coaches will be in attendance to teach clinics on adaptive track techniques.
