A winter storm threatens to bring difficult conditions to parts of the Upper Peninsula and a Blizzard Warning is now in effect for Marquette and Baraga Counties. The Blizzard Warning goes into effect at 8:00pm tonight (Tuesday) until 8:00pm EDT tomorrow. Wet, heavy snowfall could total between 8-27″ of snow in the area with the Blizzard Warning and winds are expected to gust up to 45 mph. Travel will be extremely difficult.
Winter Storm Warnings go into effect for Luce, Delta, Alger, Southern School Craft and Northern School Craft beginning at 11:00pm EDT tonight (Tuesday). The weather service warns up to 12 inches of snow or more can be expected. Highest snow totals will be 18-32″ in the higher terrain. In addition to the heavy snowfall, winds Wednesday may gust as high as 50 mph with the strongest winds expected near Lake Superior.
A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect at 2:00am EDT Wednesday for Keweenaw and Houghton Counties. Meteorologists warn that travel could be very difficult because of poor visibility caused by blowing snow. Hazardous conditions of wet, heavy snow with high winds could lead to downed tree limbs and power lines.
Ontonagon, Iron, Gogebic and Southern Houghton Counties are included in the Winter Storm Warning beginning at 8:00pm EDT tonight (Tuesday) with Dickinson County and Menominee County added at 7:00pm EDT. Meteorologists advise “travel could be very difficult to impossible.”
A Lakeshore Flood Advisory for minor flooding is in effect for Keweenaw Ontonagon, Northern Houghton Marquette, Alger and Gogebic Counties from 8:00am until 8:00pm EDT on Wednesday.
