HOUGHTON, Mich. (WZMQ) – A 19-year-old Houghton man is charged with homicide after a 24-year-old L’Anse man died from his injuries following an assault.
The Houghton Police Department says Luke Kreider was initially charged with Assault/Intent to Murder on Friday, September 2.
The Houghton County Prosecutor’s Office amended the charge Tuesday, September 6 to Homicide-Open Murder after the L’Anse man died from his injuries in the hospital.
Kreider was arrested after assaulting the L’Anse man on Thursday, September 1.
Kreider was arraigned in Houghton County District Court Wednesday, September 7. His probable cause hearing is scheduled for September 21, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 26.
He is currently lodged in the Houghton County Jail with no bond.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
