Two from GLIAC on Men’s Division Two First Team

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech men’s basketball junior guard Marcus Tomashek has been tabbed to the CSC Academic All-America First Team, announced on Tuesday.

This marks Tomashek’s first CSC Academic All-America honor, the first CSC Academic All-American since Owen White earned third-team accolades in 2020-21 and the first first-teamer since Austin Armga in 2013-14.

Tomashek is a two-time CSC Academic All-District recipient and holds a 3.70 cumulative GPA, pursuing a degree in forestry.

On the court, the Green Bay, Wisconsin, product led the Huskies to an outright GLIAC regular season championship and an NCAA Tournament berth, finishing the season 24-8. The standout guard finished the 2024-25 campaign ranked top-10 nationally in field goal attempts (539), free throw attempts (255), free throws (188) and points (720), while his 23.2 points per game ranked 11th in the country. He earned accolades of NABC All-America, D2CCA First Team All-America, NABC All-District, D2CCA All-Region First Team, GLIAC Player of the Year, First Team All-GLIAC, and a Bevo Francis Top-25 Watch List.

He scored 30 or more points in nine games with two 40-point games, including a career-high 45-point outing. He led the GLIAC with five GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, including a one-time NABC Player of the Week distinction.

Tomashek is joined by Lake Superior State’s Hunter Soper on the Division Two First Team. Soper has a 3.89 GPA in Social Science and Secondary Teaching.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.
