Wildcats finish third at GLIAC Championships
HOLLAND, Mich. – The NMU men’s swim and dive team wrapped up its week at the 2025 GLIAC Championships, finishing third of eight teams.
The ‘Cats amassed 579 points over the week, trailing Grand Valley in first (809) and Wayne State (707).
The teams competed in the 1650 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 1-meter diving, and 400 freestyle relay.
After a dominant GLIAC Championship that included seven medals, Leo Nolles was named 2025 GLIAC Male Swimmer of the Year.
The pool saw fireworks in the the men’s second event of the finals, with Nolles posting the fastest time in the nation, a meet, pool, and team record with a time of 42.72 in the 100 free. This marked his sixth medal of the week and his fourth gold medal.
Wyatt Dickman claimed his fifth medal of the week in the 200 breast, posting a time of 1:56.86 to claim a share of silver.
Tobie Stiles earned his sole medal of the week, claiming silver in the 1-meter diving with his score of 451.30.
The men capped off the week with the 400 free relay, as the team of William LaCount,Gabriel Fulconi, Daniel Khmara, and Nolles tied the GLIAC record and claimed gold with a time of 2:54.13.
