NMU Men in third place at GLIAC Swim/Dive Championships

HOLLAND, Mich. – The NMU men’s swimming and diving team concluded day two of the GLIAC Championships with a trio of podium finishes.

The ‘Cats slid into third place, holding 320.5 points after two days of competition. Ahead of the ‘Cats are Grand Valley State in first with 391.5 and Wayne State in second with 332.

Today saw the ‘Cats compete in the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 3-meter diving, and the 400 medley relay, with the ‘Cats medaling in four of the five events.

The day started with the 100 fly, seeing Leo Nolles claim his fourth medal of the week with a bronze medal thanks to his time of 47.33, setting a school record in the process.

Daniel Lopez-Aponte found his first podium of the week, claiming a bronze medal of his own in the 400 IM with his time of 3:53.84. Teammate Alessandro Rosatelli also found his first medal of the weekend just one event later, a bronze medal in the 200 free with a time of 1:37.43, setting a school record with his performance.

The ‘Cats capped off the night with the 400 medley relay claiming silver, thanks to Ian Rocheleau, Wyatt Dickman, William LaCount, and Nolles with their time of 3:11.17.

The ‘Cats now look ahead to tomorrow, featuring the 500 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, and 800 Freestyle Relay. Prelims start at 10 a.m. with the finals at 5:30 p.m., both of which can be streamed on FloSwimming.
