NMU Women’s Swim/Dive moves into second place at GLIAC Championships

Elena Curti medals in three events; helps a relay to a second-place result

HOLLAND, Mich. – The NMU women’s swim and dive team moved up a spot from day one, sitting in second place after two days of competition from the 2025 GLIAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

The women now sit second of five teams with 340 points, behind only Grand Valley State with 564. Wayne State, who was in second yesterday, now sits third at 319, followed by Davenport at 191 and Saginaw Valley at 124.

Today’s events featured the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, and the 400 medley relay. NMU podiumed in three of the four events swam today, led by Elena Curti being involved in all three.

Curti had a busy day in the pool, opening the finals with a bronze medal in the 100 fly, posting a time of 55.49, less than a second from first place.

Curti then found the podium again in the 200 free, posting a time of 1:50.91 to claim her second bronze medal of the evening.

The women’s evening was capped off with the 400 medley relay team claiming silver, thanks to, Camilla Carbone, Zoe DeKievit, Curti, and Becca Burrows with a time of 3:45.97.

The ‘Cats now look ahead to tomorrow, featuring the 500 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 3 Meter Diving, and 800 Freestyle Relay. Prelims start at 10 a.m. with the finals at 5:30 p.m., both of which can be streamed on FloSwimming.
