Runs from February 13 -21

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The NMU Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) invites you to participate in Wish Week, starting today and running to Febraruy 21, 2025.

NMU SAAC will be collecting donations going toward the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help grant a wish to a child in Michigan.

Donations will help grant a wish and directly impact a child who has been diagnosed with a critical illness. With a goal of $5,000, SAAC has already raised over $3,300, ranking third among Division II schools who are donating toward a Make-A-Wish goal.

Below is an outline of Make-A-Wish events held at various events and how you can donate. If you cannot make it to any of these events and still want to donate, you can find NMU’s team page here.

Wish Week Schedule

Thursday, February 13 – Women’s and Men’s Basketball vs Lake Superior State
Immediately following the end of the second quarter of the women’s basketball game and after the first half of the men’s game, representatives from the Student Athletic Advisory Committee will be holding a “Miracle Minute”

In this minute, SAAC representatives will be walking around with yellow bags collecting cash donations to help fulfill its goal of granting a wish to a child who has been diagnosed with a critical illness.

Along with cash, SAAC will have paddles with a scannable QR code that will take you directly to the link to donate if you wish to donate but do not have cash on hand.

Sunday, February 16 – Lacrosse vs UW-Stout, Make-A-Wish Game
Student-athletes will be wearing blue bands to signify the Make-A-Wish game dedication.

During the game, fellow student-athletes will be walking around with donation paddles with QR codes to scan and donate.

Wednesday, February 19 – Dine to Donate, Third Coast Pizzeria
From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Third Coast Pizzeria will be participating in a “dine to donate”, where 15% of proceeds during that time frame will be going directly toward the Make-A-Wish efforts.

People looking to donate can participate in both dine-in and take-out and MUST MENTION Make-A-Wish or Dine to Donate for the 15% to be donated. Alcohol sales are excluded.

Friday, February 21 – Hockey vs St. Thomas – Silent Auction and Donation Collections
Representatives from SAAC will collect cash donations, online donations, and host a silent auction featuring donation lots from various athletic teams and local businesses. The auction will conclude at the end of the second intermission, and the winners will be announced during the third period.

All Week, February 16 to 22 – Cruisin’ Coffee Make-A-Wish Drink
Cruisin’ Coffee has partnered with NMU SAAC to craft a Make-A-Wish drink for Wish Week.

The drink is a blueberry vanilla latte with blueberry cold foam, with a portion of the drink proceeds benefiting NMU’s Make-A-Wish fundraising efforts.
