Sole’ Corley, Madison Bilbia and Madalyn Nissen
MARQUETTE, Mich. — Three members of the NMU women’s soccer team have earned
All-GLIAC accolades, announced by the conference today.
Freshman Sole Corley earned an At-Large spot on the All-GLIAC First Team, senior captain
Madison Bilbia was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team, and redshirt junior captain Madalyn
Nissen was named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention squad.
Corley, a freshman from Decatur, Illinois, made an immediate impact for the Wildcats in the
middle of the park, starting in every contest for the Green and Gold. In 14 conference matches,
Corley notched four goals and an assist, including game-winning goals against Michigan Tech
on October 4 and October 18, 2026. Corley notched 1,077 minutes of playing time, good for fifth
among NMU field players and most among Wildcat midfielders or forwards. In all 19 matches for
the Green and Gold, Corley notched five goals and an assist in 1466 minutes played.
“Solé was not only one of the best freshmen in the league this season, but she proved herself to
be one of the best players in the league,” added head coach Erin Egolf. “Her work rate is off the
charts; she has an unmatched competitive drive, she contributed important goals in multiple
games, and her consistency from game to game was next level. This is a well-deserved
recognition for Solé, and I am extremely proud of her commitment to being elite every day and
her desire to help the team succeed. Very eager to see her continued growth within the
program.”
Bilbia, a senior captain from Kalamazoo, Michigan, had a breakout campaign for the Wildcat
offense, recording career bests in offensive production in her final season as a member of the
Green and Gold. Bilbia started in all 14 conference matches, recorded seven goals and two
assists for 16 points – including two game-winning goals – and logged the most minutes among
NMU forwards. Bilbia’s seven goals and two game-winning goals were one shy of the
conference lead; her 16 points and 1.14 pts/g were both second, and her 25 shots on frame
were just one shy of pacing the league. In 19 matches, she scored 7 goals and three assists for
17 points with 56 shots and 31 on target, with all of those numbers aside from her assists
leading the Wildcats.
“Maddy was our most dynamic attacking threat this season, and it’s great to see her recognized
for her contributions. She stepped up massively, not only scoring goals, but generating a lot of
attacking threats – such as assists, corners, set pieces, and crosses – that helped our team
succeed. I’m proud of Billy for the responsibility she took on this year; she was great in the
attack, but she also committed to her defensive duties as well. Another top player with a
tremendous work rate and desire to help the team. Well earned!”
After being plagued with injury to begin her collegiate career, Nissen, a defender from Houston,
Texas, was one of the most important players on the Wildcat back line this season. The captain
started in all 14 matches and logged 1201 minutes, a number good for third among Wildcat field
players in conference matches, and was an integral piece in the ‘Cats unbeaten stretch where
they produced six clean sheets and only conceded three goals in nine games. Nissen was
entrusted with taking a pair of Wildcat penalty kicks this season, and she converted on both,
scoring her first career collegiate goal against Wayne State on September 25, then followed that
up with another against Michigan Tech just two games later on October 4. Nissen played the full
90 minutes in 10 of the ‘Cats conference matches, and played less than 78 minutes only twice.
On the season as a whole, Nissen logged 1,594 minutes in 19 matches.
“Maddie contributed in a big way this season from the right outside back position. After being
sidelined with massive injuries throughout her playing career, it was amazing to see her fully
healthy and fit, and she flourished! Not only did she set the standard for our team through her
effort, but she was a tremendous vocal leader for us on and off the field. Nissen deserves this
recognition for so many reasons, and I’m really proud of the work she puts in for herself and for
the team! Class player and person; well done!
