ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Wednesday, the Escanaba Department of Public Safety responded to a structure on North 21st Street.
Around 10:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to a reported residential fire. Upon arrival, they saw a significant amount of fire on the main level of the residence, with smoke throughout the structure. Officers confirmed that no occupants were inside the home, and two dogs had been safely removed prior to their arrival.
Officers deployed attack lines and quickly extinguished the fire. Personnel remained on scene for approximately two hours.
The home sustained fire, smoke, and water damage, but no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by Delta County Central Dispatch, DTE, the City of Escanaba Electrical Department, Mobile Medical Response, and the American Red Cross.
