MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – After a week of dorm competitions and high campus activity, NMU students and faculty took to the streets of Downtown Marquette Friday evening.
The NMU Homecoming Parade brought out around 60 university groups, including the marching band, athletes, and hand crafted floats made by dorm halls and various clubs.
Ahead of the weekend, a large portion of the homecoming festivities also invite alumni to celebrate. This year, a new way to honor all those years of Wildcat pride made its way into the parade.
“Homecoming is a great time for our alums to come back and really get involved and celebrate what being a wildcat means for all of us,” said Senior Director of Foundation & Alumni Strategic Communications, Kylie Bunting. “This year we have our Golden Wildcats riding in the parade in a trolley. They graduated 50 years or more ago, so that’s really fun.”
The NMU football team will kick off against Davenport on Saturday at 1 p.m. Tailgaiting for that game will begin at 11 a.m. behind the Superior Dome.
