Trump Lashes Out at Supreme Court Following Rejection of his Mail-In Voting Restrictions

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump did not hold back his frustrations in a Truth Social post on Tuesday towards the Supreme Court after the Court rejected his push to restrict mail in voting for this year’s midterm elections. The court’s decision allows states to continue sending out mail ballots under the same process they’ve used for years.

The majority wrote that the administration’s attempts to implement the restrictions this year is likely to lose in court. Justice Brett Kavanaugh adds that applying the rule in this elections would not give state and local officials enough time to reasonably implement it before the elections.

“There was no question this could not be implemented and would’ve had irreparable harm if the Court were to have allowed this order to be implemented for the 2026 election,” said David Becker, executive director of the Center for Election Innovation and Research.

Justice Samuel Alito in his dissent writes that the Postal Service has broad authority to regulate the mail and that they likely do have the power to enforce these restrictions.

In the Truth Social post, Trump claimed that mail-in voting is a “’disaster’” adding that it’s a “big loss for Republicans, and America itself”. He claims, without proof, it would make it easier for Democrats to cheat. The President’s claims of widespread voting fraud have been investigated and debunked.

The President also criticized the three Justices he appointed during his first term, calling the ruling as “horrible, highly political”. Attorney General Todd Blanche said the President has the right to express his thoughts about the Court.

“He is very frustrated,” said AG Blanche. “And I wasn’t at the interviews that he participated in during his last administration when he selected these folks to be on the Court. He has every right and he should indeed communicate his concerns about the Supreme Court whenever he has them.”
