ISLE ROYALE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A missing Isle Royale hiker is safe after a week-long search.
Seventy-year-old Craig Berg was found Saturday by backpackers, alive, alert, and in good condition.
D-N-R officials say search teams traveled more than 50 miles across Lake Superior, then hiked nearly five miles to reach the area of Berg’s last known location. From there, first responders continued to conduct a massive foot search in addition to bringing in air units until Berg was located in good condition on Saturday morning.
The Coast Guard eventually airlifted Berg to Marquette.
