ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – After a months-long search, the City of Escanaba has its sights set on a new manager.
The previous city manager stepped down in May, having announced his decision in December of 2025. Throughout the spring and summer, the City Council conducted several rounds of applicant interviews and hired a consultant to compile a list of qualified candidates.
In July, the Council named Danielle Tiedeman as its top remaining candidate. Tiedeman currently serves as village manager of downstate Dimondale.
On Thursday, Council members unanimously approved the employment agreement negotiated by Tiedeman and the City Hiring Committee. The City’s next step would be to extend a formal offer of employment to Tiedeman, pending a successful physical and psychological evaluation.
