Local artists and musicians gathered on Third Street in downtown Marquette for a celebration of music, with an emphasis on local bands. The gathering marked the first of the season after smoke from the Canadian wildfires canceled the event last month.
Held on the third Thursday every month usually from July to September, the night’s turnout proved to be record breaking. Over 50 bands and musicians submitted an application to play in the festivities.
“It’s just a good way to kinda get entry to the music scene, for people to see you in a barrier-free platform,” said Marquette DDA Business Outreach and Promotions Director Mike Bradford. “Oftentimes I hear back that yeah, they then start getting bookings throughout the county. It’s always really good to see that.”
Music on Third Street will continue, with its next event planned for September 17.
