He coached four seasons at Division Three Hamline
MARQUETTE, Mich. — Northern Michigan University Athletics has named Adam Dobis as its third head women’s lacrosse coach in program history, Athletic Director Rick Comley announced Wednesday.
Dobis joins the Wildcats after four years as the head women’s lacrosse coach at Division III Hamline University. In his four seasons at the helm for the Pipers, Dobis amassed a 29-33 overall record and a 12-17 conference record, including an overall record of 10-6 in his final season.
“We are thrilled to welcome Adam Dobis to the Wildcat family as the leader of our women’s lacrosse program,” said Comley. “Adam brings a proven track record of student-athlete development, tactical excellence, and a strong vision for success from his time at Hamline. His passion for the game and commitment to building a winning and positive culture both on the field and in the classroom make him the perfect fit to elevate NMU women’s lacrosse.”
During his tenure at Hamline, Dobis mentored 14 All-Conference selections, three CSC Academic All-District honorees, and four IWLCA Academic Honor Roll recipients. Under his leadership, the Pipers regularly excelled academically, earning IWLCA Academic Honor Squad recognition in 2023 along with dozens of conference all-academic honors.
“I cannot wait to begin the next chapter in my head coaching journey at Northern Michigan University, and to start working alongside our outstanding student-athletes,” said Dobis. “From the moment I stepped on campus at NMU, I could really feel the togetherness of the community and the athletic department. I look forward to building relationships with my new team and fellow coaches and support staff, embracing new challenges, and competing in the GLIAC conference. I’m excited to bring my passion, enthusiasm, and energy for the sport of lacrosse, and help continue to build this lacrosse program! I would like to thank my former players and coaches at Hamline University, and wish the program and university great success going forward.”
Prior to Hamline, Dobis spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the NCAA Division II men’s lacrosse program at his alma mater, the University of Indianapolis. He helped lead the Greyhounds to a 24-7 record, back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, a share of the 2022 GLVC Regular Season Championship, and the 2021 GLVC Tournament title. His duties included tactical film analysis, individual player development, travel coordination, and regional recruiting.
A four-year team captain during his playing career at UIndy, Dobis guided the Greyhounds to GLVC Tournament Championships in 2018 and 2019, capped by the program’s first-ever NCAA Division II Final Four appearance in 2019. He remains active in youth player development, coaching with the Pipeline Lacrosse Club and working with the Minnesota Stars box lacrosse program.
Dobis earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from UIndy in 2020, followed by a master’s degree in professional studies with a concentration in real estate development in 2022.
Dobis succeeds Lindsey (LeMay) Majkrzak, who stepped down after seven seasons. Majkrzak has since accepted the head coaching position at Lake Forest College.
