MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – MooseWood Nature Center marked a major milestone this evening at Presque Isle Park.
The nonprofit nature center celebrated its 30th anniversary with an evening of live animal exhibits, face painting, food trucks, and a recycling truck kids could climb inside. Smokey Bear made an appearance, families got up close with turtles, snakes, an frogs, and the evening wrapped up with a cake cutting and concert at the newly named Peg Hirvonen Band Shell.
Board President Joe Cline says getting young people connected to nature is at the heart of everything MooseWood does. “It means a great deal particularly to have young people here,” says Cline. “They are the future of our society, and their affinity to nature is extremely important.”
Thirty years of connecting kids and communities to the natural world… And counting.
