Early voting for August primaries opened on July 25th, set to remain available until just before the primary election opens on August 4th.
Voters have several options on how they wish to send their ballot in early, either by mail or at their respective clerk’s office.
Residents of Marquette County can find their local clerk via address search on Michigan.gov/vote, or can fill out their information at the same site to have their absentee ballot mailed.
Early voting concludes August 2nd, and in person voting will take place on August 4th from approximately 7 am until 8 pm. The office of the county clerk expects to see an increase in absentee ballots this year, a product of an increased awareness effort by the office to all citizens of the county.
“What I did in Marquette County is I have six different polling locations because we have such a large landmass,” said Marquette County Clerk Linda Talsma. “We have a pretty decent amount of spots to go. However, they’re correlated with where you’re actually registered to vote.”
With just one week until the primary elections, over 832,000 Michiganders have already cast their absentee ballots.
