MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On top of the skyrocketing popularity of eBike users around the Marquette area, Lakeshore Bike is allowing riders to take one out for a free spin this week, during its third annual Demo Days event.
“A lot of people have had some experience by now with eBikes but we still want to get those riders who may have never tried an eBike out there,” said Co-owner, Jacob Douglas. “We’re allowing customers to come out and ride for two to three hours to get a feel for them.”
Over the past 4 to 5 years, the interests in electric bikes have expanded to just about all ages, combined with the area’s hilly terrains and long trails.
“We’re seeing a lot of aging riders that want to keep riding with their younger friends or explore more places,” said Douglas.
In the past year, concerns in safety have closely surrounded eBikes, especially within the City of Marquette’s multi-use trail. Douglas says that importance is carried through with each purchase.
“The bikes we sell and rent all have lights and bells integrated into them, they’re are mostly Class 1 eBikes, so they are very natural,” he said. “We also go through all the safety features and make sure customers are wearing helmets.”
Demo Days will continue through Saturday, July 18. During the event, riders may reserve a free demo ride within business hours, but overnight demos can also be arranged. Demo eBikes will be specially marked down. More information can be found here.
