MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Thousands filled Marquette’s waterfront today for a celebration eleven years in the making.
UP Rainbow Pride’s annual Pride Fest drew thousands of visitors to Mattson Lower Harbor Park, one of the largest community gatherings Marquette sees all year.
Food vendors, live music, colorful outfits, and a welcoming atmosphere filled the park from noon through the evening as people from across the Upper Peninsula came together to celebrate.
For Co-chair Emily Snow, events like this are vital in a region as rural as the UP. “We have such a rural community here, it is incredibly important that we have the chance to gather, to have community, and to have a chance to celebrate ourselves and our culture,” says Snow. “It’s also incredibly important to have a chance to see all of the resources we have here, and to uplift our local vendors.”
Whether you’re part of the community or just looking for a good time, Pride Fest had something for everyone.
