ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A local tradition is rolling along with a new name this weekend.
A continuation of the former Krusin’ Klassics Fun Run, the Ludington Street Cruise car parade made its way through Downtown Escanaba Friday Evening. Vehicles of all kinds were welcome, including muscle cars, classic hot rods, modern-day sports cars, and motorcycles. The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile even made a special appearance.
The event drew a large crowd, with people lining the streets to see their favorite cars. Car enthusiasts came from across the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin to be in the parade.
Participant Ralph Pizzi of Quinnesec said of his ride, “It’s a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. It’s been a good car. There’s 19,000 on it, so I do use it some. It’s got 650 horse.”
The Krusin’ Klassics Fun Run was part of Pizzi’s life for years. He is happy to keep the tradition going with the Ludington Street Cruise.
“It’s beautiful,” he said. “It looks like a good turnout again this year. We hang out, just visit, and talk about cars.”
The fun continues on Ludington Street Saturday, May 30, with a car show, special attractions, and live music from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at 1st Avenue South and Lake Shore Drive.
