ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – With a new fiscal year beginning on July 1, the City of Escanaba is finalizing its budget.
On Thursday, the City Council approved an operating budget that includes a 17.442 millage rate. That is the same rate the City has maintained for the last several years, so residents will not experience a tax increase.
On the other hand, certain utility rates have gone up in recent years. The upcoming year’s numbers have not yet been officially set.
The City Council will meet at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, to determine electric, water, wastewater, and solid waste rates for the 2026 – 2027 fiscal year.
