CHAMPION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (wzmq) – The Marquette County Planning Department is holding a series of information gathering public forums for their upcoming master plan update. Officials from the county planning office presented vital data about the county, like population changes, housing numbers, and planned projects. This evening’s forum was the first of 4 scheduled throughout the county.
The meeting was a chance to voice your opinion or share your concerns about the future of the county. The planners asked the attendees for feedback and to share their ideas. Several common concerns, like housing and the environment, kept coming up.
“Housing, for sure, is a big concern for people, affordable housing. The amount of affordable housing that is available in various regions around the county is a really big issue and concern for a lot of residents. Transportation, public transportation is a concern, and road maintenance is important to a lot of people,” said Grace Freed
In addition to the public forums, the county also has a survey for residents to fill out.
