MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Two Manistique organizations are hosting a family-friendly event in honor of Earth Day this weekend.
On Saturday, April 18, Lake Effect Community Arts Center will host its annual Earth Day Celebration with the Schoolcraft Conservation District. Attendees will enjoy arts and crafts projects like making pinecone bird feeders, origami paper hats, and wildflower seed packets.
Lake Effect Operations Manager Katie Birdsley says the event is an opportunity to gather after the long winter. It’s also a fun way to celebrate our planet.
“Part of why we live in the U.P. is because we appreciate nature so much,” said Birdsley. “We love the trees, we love the water, and we love making sure that they’re beautiful for the next generation. Part of our Earth Day Celebration is to make sure that we continue that forward. It’s a beautiful spring weekend. Get in the car, go for a drive, and pop in!”
The Earth Day Celebration runs from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to attend. Click here for more information.
