NMU Women earn nine victories at UW-Oshkosh Track and Field Invite

Wildcats’ Lund wins shot put and hammer, NMU goes first and second in 3,000 steeplechase

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Northern Michigan Track & Field team had an impressive showing at Saturday’s UW-Oshkosh Invite, securing nine wins and 25 top-five finishes in total.

Of the 20 events, the Wildcats stood atop the podium in nine of them.

On the Track
Northern went 1-2 in the 3000m steeplechase. Anya VanSweden crossed first at 11:27.50, followed by Celia Wallace at 11:53.41.

In the 800m, Beverly Harper earned yet another victory with a time of 2:16.18. Lamar Gordon placed third with a time of 2:16.57, and Lana Mac rounded out the top five at 2:19.04.

Baux Truckey dominated the 200m, finishing at 25.05, more than a second ahead of second place. Mikayle de Souza placed third with a time of 26.64.

Madalyn Agren bested the rest of the field by nearly 30 seconds in the 5000m, crossing the finish line at 18:59.49.

Freshman Maya Woods finished the 400m hurdles at 1:05.24 for first place. In the 100m hurdles, Lily Phillips was second with a time of 14.70.

In the 1500m, Paige Anderson placed fourth with a time of 4:56.65.

NMU’s team of Tashay Faulkner, Phillips, Woods, and Truckey finished in fourth place in the 4×100 relay, crossing at 48.82.

In the Field
Danielle Lund continued her dominant season with a win in the shot put, throwing 12.72m, and the hammer, throwing 53.65m. Teiolla Harvey was third with a distance of 47.93m. Lund then placed second in the discus at 43.52m, while Caterina Thelen was third at 39.13m.

Eclipsing 3.53m, Alyssa Tumminaro earned a victory in the pole vault. Kati Smith finished in a tie for fourth, hitting the 3.23m mark.

Jumping a distance of 11.65m, Alayna Vandegriff placed second in the triple jump. She was fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.23m.

Taylor Rogers finished in third in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m.

In the javelin, Natasha Nowakowski reached 31.31m for fifth.

Heptathlon
Eva Zonca totaled 4,090 points to win the heptathlon. She finished in first place in the 100m hurdles (15.33) and the high jump (1.51m). Right behind her was Nowakowski in second with 3.913 points. She earned a win in the javelin (33.73m).

Up Next
The Wildcats will head to several meets in California this coming weekend, marking their third straight season with a trip to the West Coast.
