Huskies struggled with shooting, free throws and turnovers

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Michigan Tech Men’s Basketball season has come to an end as Gannon beat the Huskies 75-49 in the first game of the Division Two Elite Eight in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Golden Knights broke out to an 18-2 lead in the first eight and a half minutes of the first half on their way to a 38-21 halftime lead. Ty Fernholz hit three three-pointers for Tech in the last five minutes, or the score could have been worse.

Nate Abel knocked down a triple to bring the Huskies within 47-37 about eight and a half minutes into the second half, but Gannon went on a 10-2 run and put the game away.

Dawson Nordgaard led Tech with 12 points, and Abel had eleven. Marcus Tomashek was limited to five points. Gabe Smith had 12 rebounds. The Huskies shot less than 30-percent from the floor (16 of 56), and they only made eight of 22 from the foul line (36.4-percent).

Gannon had three players score in double figures. Pace Prosser had 19, Precious Idianu 17 and Mackenzie Morgan contributed 12, all in the first half.

Gannon raises its record to 32-3. Michigan Tech concludes its best season in school history with a record of 29-7.

Congratulations to the Huskies on reaching the Elite Eight!
