MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette Regional History Center hosted its final main event of the year on Wednesday evening, with its annual holiday open house.
Community members filled the main gathering hall for a special holiday reading from Marquette resident, Bruce Closser, to share a family tradition.
Closser read ’Twas the Night Before Christmas, as well as the Swedish Christmas story The Tomten, while providing some historical Christmas knowledge along the way. The history center says the event continues almost 80 years of its annual Christmas celebrations.
“We hold this around the beginning of the Christmas season to get people together and spread a little holiday cheer,” said Marquette Regional History Center Executive Director, Cris Osier. “Bruce has been doing this tradition with his family throughout the years, and he wanted to bring it to the public.”
The history center will wrap up its holiday season with the Marquette Brass Choir on Sunday, December 21, at 4 p.m.
