ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Nearly three weeks after the end of a historic government shutdown, federally-funded programs are beginning to return to business as usual.
The Menominee Delta Schoolcraft Community Action Agency depends on federal grants to fund its Head Start early childhood programs. The notice of award is granted every October. With the shutdown in effect at that time, the agency was forced to suspend its programming in mid-November.
On Tuesday, December 2, the Community Action Agency’s Early Childhood Program resumed operations. The program serves more than 200 families across Delta, Schoolcraft, and Menominee counties, providing education, therapy, nutritious meals, and other resources.
The Community Action Agency Early Childhood Program announced its reopening in a Facebook post, thanking the community for its patience while services were suspended.
