Kamin plays for defending national champion Grand Valley State
GLIAC — With the 2025-26 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women’s basketball campaign nearing tip off, the conference office announced its preseason player of the year and all-conference teams on Tuesday.
Both honors were determined by a vote of the league coaches.
Grand Valley State redshirt senior guard Nicole Kamin was selected as the 2025-26 GLIAC Preseason Player of the Year. A First Team All-GLIAC and GLIAC All-Defensive Team performer last season, Kamin averaged 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, adding a team-high 101 steals and 91 assists, during the Lakers run to the 2025 national championship. Kamin was also named MVP of the GLIAC Tournament and was selected to the NCAA Elite Eight All-Tournament team.
Joining Kamin on the All-GLIAC Preseason First Team is Parkside junior guard Cassidy Arni, Grand Valley State sophomore forward MacKenzie Bisballe, Ferris State senior guard Kadyn Blanchard and Northern Michigan senior guard Jacy Weisbrod.
Arni led Parkside and ranked seventh in the conference in scoring a year ago, averaging 14.1 points per game, earning First Team All-GLIAC honors.
Bisballe played in all 40 games as a freshman, averaging 10.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. She led the Lakers and the GLIAC in blocked shots with 55.
As a junior, Blanchard averaged 17.5 points per game before her season was cut short by injury after 13 games.
Helping NMU to a 23-win season, Weisbrod scored a team-high 13.4 points per game, ranking first in the conference in 3-point field goals per game (2.9) and second in 3-point field goal percentage (.396).
Named to the preseason second team were Saginaw Valley State junior forward Megan McCalla, Ferris State senior guard Mia Riley, Michigan Tech sophomore guard Kendall Standfest, Wayne State senior forward Taylor Thompson and Grand Valley State senior guard/forward Paige VanStee.
