Negaunee MSP Post holds first ‘Trunk or Treat’ event

NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Michigan State Police post of Negaunee held its inaugural ‘Trunk or Treat’ Friday evening.

In the post’s parking lot, members of MSP response teams, Child Protective Services, and dispatchers handed out plenty of candy, local information, and recruitment opportunities.

Kids also had the chance to tour a firetruck and an armored vehicle, as well as meet with the canine team. While trunk or treaters had their hands in candy buckets, troopers at the Negaunee post say the evening was a great reminder of community support.

“It’s the first event we had here, and we weren’t sure how the turnout was going to be, but it’s been a pretty good community outreach,” said Trooper Laken Hammon. “It lets us know people do still support us, which is really nice.”

The post hopes the event begins a yearly Halloween tradition.
