DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Escanaba man is dead following a car crash on October 17.
Around 12:45 a.m., Delta County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on US-2/41 near the Highland Golf Course. According to the Sheriff’s Office, one vehicle was rolled onto its side when deputies arrived. Each vehicle had only one occupant, and both were entrapped.
The driver of one vehicle was 61-year-old Thomas Murray of Bark River. The driver of the other vehicle was identified as 26-year-old Derec Nelson of Escanaba. Nelson was determined to be deceased.
The crash remains under investigation. Deputies were assisted by the Michigan State Police, Escanaba Public Safety, Rampart EMS, and Ford River Fire.
