ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – This weekend, a “car show extraordinaire” returns to the U.P. State Fairgrounds for its second year.

Northwoods Motor Mayhem kicked off Friday afternoon with an antique and vintage car show, live music, and raffles. The fun continues all day on Saturday, June 21, with mini bike races, lawn tractor pulls, a pinup competition, food trucks, and more. Also on Saturday, organizers will be raffling off a 1969 Chevrolet C10.

Car enthusiasts of all ages and vehicles of all types are welcome.

“Last year, we had a 14-year-old win the best rat rod and a 16-year-old win the best burnout,” said Northwoods Motor Mayhem Chairman Rodney Van Brocklin. “Anything with wheels that you love, we love. We want to see it. It’s going to be a good time.”

Proceeds from the event will go to the Gladstone Lions Club. The money raised will go toward local causes like vision screenings and leader dogs, childhood diabetes and cancer, community gardens, and sports and robotics teams.

“This is great, to have Gladstone and Escanaba and the whole U.P. and beyond come see us,” said Craig Lauerman, King Lion of the Gladstone Lions Club. “There’s a lot of people camping here. The Lions Club is an international organization across the world, and we’re just trying to do our small part here in Gladstone and Escanaba.”

A few more volunteers are still needed for Saturday’s activities. To sign up, click here.
