ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Escanaba DDA is showcasing the city’s wide array of dining options during the third annual Restaurant Week in Esky.
Downtown Escanaba offers 16 unique restaurants, several of which are offering specials and new menu items now through Saturday, March 1.
Bobaloon’s Cafe kicked off the week with special bagels and bagel sandwiches. Later in the week, Bobaloon’s will introduce a new smashburger, serve up a pesto pita sandwich, and get a head start on Friday fish fry season. On Saturday, the cafe will feature hotdogs, corndogs, and waffle dogs.
“[Waffle dogs are] something kind of different,” said Bobaloon’s Owner Mark Ammel. “It’s kind of similar to a corndog. It’s made with waffle batter, and it looks like a waffle on the outside. It’s really tasty, and you can have them with a Kewpie mayo—which is a sweetened mayo—or with maple syrup.”
Ammel encourages locals to get out this week and try all the different restaurants and menus Escanaba has to offer.
“Everybody is trying something different or featuring something, so it’s a good way to encourage people to come back out and either reintroduce yourself to a spot you used to go to or to find a new spot that you might like in the future,” he said.
Bobaloon’s Cafe, located at 1700 Ludington Street, is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For a full list of businesses participating in Restaurant Week in Esky, visit escanabadowntown.com.
