ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Sports fans who just can’t wait until Superbowl Sunday can get their fix one day early in Delta County.
Escanaba’s Super Sports Cards and Memorabilia Show will take place on Saturday, February 8, at the Chamber of Commerce at 1001 North Lincoln Road. Vendors will be selling everything from sports, Pokémon, and Magic: the Gathering cards to comic books, video games, movies, jerseys, and other collectibles. Concessions will also be available to purchase.
With the popularity of sports cards growing in recent years, organizers decided it was time to create an event for collectors. Event promoter Adam Hinch says the show will be the first of its kind in the area since the 1990s.
“I moved here about six years ago, COVID happened, and the card market kind of soared,” said Hinch. “I just hope people get the chance to find some collectibles that they want and just to see this continue to grow so we can do this more in the future.”
Hinch would like to see the show become a seasonal event. He believes it will be a great time for collectors and an opportunity for businesses like Orange Cat Sportscards and Comics, located on South 10th Street in Escanaba, to reach new customers.
Escanaba’s Super Sports Cards and Memorabilia Show runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission costs $2 at the door, and 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Delta Animal Shelter. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day.
