ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Escanaba business is revamping its inventory to make grocery shopping more affordable.
Jen’s Gems by Peach moved to its location at 1628 Ludington Street in 2023, offering home goods, decor, and gifts. On Saturday, January 25, the store will have a soft reopening as Jen’s Gems by Peach Discount Variety outlet.
In addition to gifts and some home goods, the store will be selling liquidated nonperishable foods, cleaning products, and other household items. Owner James Ayotte says he wants to help customers keep their pantries full as food costs continue to rise.
“Funds are tight, especially with the job market these days,” said Ayotte. “Everybody’s looking to save a quick dollar. Being able to bring this opportunity to Downtown Escanaba I think is really going to benefit our local community, being able to offer your everyday essentials at a fraction of the cost of retail stores.”
Saturday’s soft opening will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store’s regular hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Tuesday.
