OSCEOLA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Houghton County Tuesday evening believed to be caused by road conditions.
Around 7:28 p.m., Michigan State Police troopers from the Calumet post responded to M-26 near Junction Rd. for a two-vehicle personal injury crash. A preliminary investigation showed a southbound pickup truck lost control and started sliding sideways, crossing the centerline and hitting a northbound pickup truck with a plow. Upon contact, the southbound pickup was split into two. The driver of the southbound truck and the driver and passenger of the northbound truck were transported to UP Health System Portage by Mercy EMS.
Michigan State Police were assisted on the scene by the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, Hancock City Police Department, Lake Linden Village Police Department, Laurium Village Police Department, Mercy EMS, Tamarack City Fire Department, Hubbell Fire Department, Dollar Bay Fire Department, and Superior Service. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
