Escanaba celebrates Christmas in the Antique Village Dec. 6 – 7

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – An event at the U.P. State Fairgrounds is taking Escanaba back in time this weekend.

Christmas in the Village began on Friday, December 6, and continues on Saturday, December 7. Guests can enjoy cookies and cocoa, take a tractor ride through the fairgrounds, look for unique Christmas presents at the shops, sing carols in the chapel, and warm up by the fire.

Local organizations like OSF Hospital are involved this year.

“My wife and I came here for their fall days and saw that the infirmary was closed,” said OSF Physician Assistant Hospitalist Casey DeShambo. “We thought it would be fun to spend some time and give back to the community.”

Kids can visit the village infirmary to receive coloring pages and crayons. They can even listen to their own heart through a stethoscope. DeShambo says it is a great opportunity for OSF to reach more of the community while celebrating the holidays.

“It’s just good to get back to our roots and spend some time outside learning a little bit about history,” he said.

Christmas in the Village is free to attend, but guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for a local pantry. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Click here for more information.
