ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Friday, thrifty shoppers hunted for some great deals for a good cause.
UP Health System (UPHS) Hospice held its second annual rummage sale at New Life Church Community Center. All items were donated by community members, and most were priced at $1.
All proceeds from the rummage sale will benefit the Hospice Promise Foundation, which helps people in Delta County cover the costs associated with end-of-life care.
“We didn’t even realize when we started this last year how big it was going to get,” said UPHS Hospice Account Executive Rachel Camp. “People are so excited to donate and give. Even if they can’t do it monetarily, they’re giving to the community. Also, it’s a wonderful way to shop for new treasures and still support hospice patients and their families. We just want to give back to the community in any way we can.”
To date, UPHS Hospice has raised more than $100,000 for the Hospice Promise Foundation.
