NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Negaunee’s Vista Theater has a new roof after the previous one collapsed in 2020 due to the gutter being clogged and water buildup.
Roof construction started in the spring of 2022 and ended two weeks ago. The whole roof structure was redone, and there was also side drainage added to prevent future water build-up and prolong the new roof’s life.
“The roof project is all completed, however, there is still some environmental contamination in the interior,” said David Nelson, planning and zoning administrator for Negaunee. “That’s getting cleaned up as we speak and in the next coming months. After that it will be sanitized.”
The City of Negaunee still has to clean and finish the interior before they plan to reopen in 2026.
