MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A new mural featuring Marquette Senior High School’s (MSHS) new logo has been painted on the wall by the main entrance.
The mural also includes imagery inspired by Marquette’s landmarks and natural environment.
The artist Chelsea Monaghan said she began before Labor Day and wanted to get the mural done in time for the school year.
She also said she hopes the mural inspires school spirit with the new logo.
“Any mural kind of brings a sense of awe and community I think so, sort of the sense of rebranding and starting fresh,” said Monaghan. “And who doesn’t like art on the wall?”
The mural is the first major artwork involving the new mascot since the school’s rebranding last year.
