IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – In Iron Mountain tonight, the 4th of July celebrations were already in full swing even before the official city fireworks began. At Northside Ballpark, a lively crowd kicked off the evening with their own colorful displays, quickly joined by enthusiastic neighbors. Ross Rasmussen, an out-of-town visitor, and newcomer to the U.P. from Chicago, commented that he had made a delightful stop at Florence, Wisconsin’s Ice Cream Shoppe on his way to the Upper Peninsula, highly recommending their ‘monster cookie’ flavor. Hearing rumors about the spectacular fireworks in Iron Mountain, he said he had to come see them for himself. As he stood in awe of the community’s patriotic spirit and the breathtaking views, the night became a vivid testament to Iron Mountain’s love for Independence Day.
