ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Thursday, Delta County organizations hit the links for a good cause.
Youth Empowering Services (Y.ES.) connects Delta and Menominee County youth with adult mentors. A total of 28 local businesses sponsored teams for the nonprofit’s second annual golf outing at the Escanaba Country Club, along with eight teams of Y.E.S. mentors.
Youth Empowering Services has 24 mentorship programs in 10 schools and the Bay Pines Center, serving just under 300 students. The money raised through the golf outing will fund resources for students, as well as new programs in the works like a teen support group.
“This area is like no other place, to have a group of community members, business owners, mentors, volunteers, friends, and familiy, but also just local people that want to come help and be a part of the goodness that we’re doing,” said Y.E.S. Executive Director Tiffany Hewitt. “It just seems to keep growing, and we could not be more thrilled!”
There are a number of ways to get involved in Youth Empowering Services, from mentoring students to donating. To learn more or to recommend a student for the program, visit yes906.org. Follow Y.E.S. on Facebook for information on future events.
