ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – High school students in Ishpeming are getting recognized for their work in a business competition.
Through the Business Professionals of America, high school students the opportunity to develop their professional skills and prepare themselves for a variety of industries. The Westwood High School team made it to the national competition being held in Chicago. Tuesday evening, some team members were presented with a $500 check by the Ishpeming Rotary Club to help support the students’ trip in May.
Students mentioned the regional conference helped to gain confidence when presenting in front of people and are excited to see what’s next at the national level.
“I didn’t think it was going to be so fun I only went to regionals last year. I feel like I’ve learned a lot about the medical field and everything to do with that,” commented competitor Clara Kruger.
“I know this is something that I’ve been working for months now and I was just excited because it’s Chicago,” commented competitor Kaya Etelamaki.
“I know that I’ve improved a lot in my competitions like now I know that it’s just going to be so much fun like I don’t have any worries or anything my prompters and administrators are just amazing,” commented Competitor Isabelle Grochowski.
